The First part of King Henry the Sixth — Act 1, Scene 3: London. Before the Tower.

At the Tower in London, Gloucester arrives to inspect the fortress and demands entry, but the warders refuse him because Winchester has ordered it shut. Gloucester is enraged and accuses Winchester of blocking him out of spite and treason. Winchester then appears with his own men, and the two men trade bitter insults, each claiming authority over the realm. Their servants clash, and the fight grows so loud that the Mayor of London and his officers intervene. The Mayor orders everyone to lay down their weapons and go home. Gloucester and Winchester part still threatening each other, while the Mayor laments that great nobles can behave with such reckless violence.
