The First part of King Henry the Sixth — Act 3, Scene 1: London. The Parliament-house.

At Westminster, King Henry VI presides while Gloucester and Winchester renew their feud in public. Gloucester presents written accusations against Winchester, who tears them up and answers with claims that Gloucester envies his influence over the king. Their followers begin throwing stones, and the Mayor arrives to report that London is in chaos. Henry pleads for peace, and Warwick helps force the two men to reconcile publicly, each offering a reluctant hand to the other. Warwick then presents Richard Plantagenet’s petition, and Henry restores Richard to the York inheritance and formally makes him Duke of York. After everyone leaves, Exeter warns that the apparent peace hides deep, dangerous division.
