The Life and Death of Julius Caesar — Act 5, Scene 2: The same. The field of battle.

On the battlefield, Brutus sends Messala riding to deliver written orders to the legions on the other side. As the battle alarm sounds loudly, Brutus watches Octavius’s wing and judges that it is holding back rather than pressing forward. He decides the enemy should be attacked at once, since a sudden assault could break them. Brutus repeatedly urges Messala to hurry and calls for the troops to come down and move into action without delay. After giving these orders, Brutus and Messala leave the scene.
