The Life and Death of Julius Caesar — Act 5, Scene 1: The plains of Philippi.

At Philippi, Octavius and Antony see Brutus and Cassius come down to meet them on the plain, not stay on the hills as Antony expected. A messenger reports that the opposing army is ready for battle, and the two generals arrange their positions, with Octavius taking the right and Antony the left, though they briefly clash over the plan. When Brutus and Cassius arrive, the leaders exchange angry words instead of fighting at once. After Octavius and Antony withdraw, Cassius confides to Messala that the day is his birthday and that bad omens worry him. Brutus and Cassius then discuss defeat, honor, and death, and they part with a solemn farewell before leading their troops on.
