The Life and Death of King John — Act 3, Scene 1: The French King's pavilion.

Constance enters with Arthur and Salisbury and refuses to believe that Lewis has married Blanch and made peace with King John. When Philip and the others arrive, Philip celebrates the marriage, but Constance denounces the day and attacks Austria for changing sides. Cardinal Pandulph then arrives and demands that John submit to the Church over the appointment of the Archbishop of Canterbury. John rejects him, and Pandulph curses him. Pandulph pressures Philip to break the new alliance and return to war, and Philip finally agrees. Blanch begs Lewis not to attack her own family, but he chooses duty over her plea. John and Philip then leave to raise arms.
