The Life and Death of Richard the Second — Act 2, Scene 3: Wilds in Gloucestershire.

In Gloucestershire, Henry Bolingbroke and Northumberland lead their forces toward Berkeley and speak politely while waiting for news. Northumberland’s son, Harry Percy, arrives and reports that Worcester has left the queen’s court, broken his office, and gone to Ravenspurgh to join Bolingbroke. Ross and Willoughby then arrive, and Bolingbroke welcomes their support. Lord Berkeley comes with a message from York, asking why Bolingbroke has brought armed men into England. York appears in person and angrily accuses Bolingbroke of treason. Bolingbroke answers that he seeks only his inheritance as Lancaster. York refuses to support either side, offers them lodging, and accepts Bolingbroke’s request to go with them to Bristol.
