The Life and Death of Richard the Second — Act 5, Scene 6: Windsor castle.

At Windsor castle, Bolingbroke receives news from Northumberland and Fitzwater that the remaining rebels have been captured and their leaders’ heads have been sent to London. He rewards them for their service. Carlisle is brought before him, but instead of punishing him, Bolingbroke allows the bishop to live quietly in peace. Exton then arrives with a coffin containing the body of Richard, whom he has killed. Bolingbroke angrily rejects Exton’s deed, saying he wished Richard dead but not murdered, and dismisses the killer. Overcome with guilt, he orders everyone to mourn, dress in black, and accompany him as he announces a pilgrimage to the Holy Land.
