The Life and Death of Richard the Third — Act 1, Scene 4: London. The Tower.

At the Tower, Clarence wakes from a fearful dream and tells Brakenbury that he saw himself sailing with Gloucester, falling into the sea, and then entering a hellish afterworld where the ghosts of Warwick and Prince Edward accuse him of betrayal. Disturbed, he asks for rest and falls asleep. Two murderers arrive with a warrant from the king, and Brakenbury reluctantly hands Clarence over and leaves. The murderers argue about conscience and how to kill him, then wake Clarence and tell him they have come to murder him. Clarence pleads for mercy, blames Edward and Gloucester for his danger, and urges them to relent, but the First Murderer stabs him and carries off the body.
