The Life and Death of Richard the Third — Act 2, Scene 3: London. A street.

In a London street, three Citizens meet and discuss the news that King Edward is dead. They immediately fear that the change will bring trouble to the kingdom. One Citizen tries to stay hopeful, saying Edward’s young son can rule with help from counselors until he is grown, but the others doubt that a child can govern safely. The Third Citizen argues that the new reign is especially dangerous because Gloucester and the queen’s sons and brothers are all ambitious and likely to compete for power. He compares the situation to signs of coming storm, while the others try to trust that all will be well. At the end, they agree to go to the justices.
