At the siege of Harfleur, Bardolph urges the others forward, but Nym and the Boy hesitate, and Pistol tries to hide his fear behind grand talk. Fluellen drives the men toward the breach and forces them all off stage. Left alone, the Boy gives a sharp account of Bardolph, Pistol, and Nym, mocking their cowardice, thievery, and empty boasting, and decides he must leave their service. Gower then brings Fluellen to the mines and introduces Captain Macmorris and Captain Jamy. The captains argue over military discipline and the work of the siege, and Macmorris, angry that the assault has stopped, quarrels with Fluellen. Before the dispute grows worse, a parley is sounded from the town.
