The Merry Wives of Windsor — Act 3, Scene 5: A room in the Garter Inn.

At the Garter Inn, Falstaff complains bitterly about being stuffed in a basket and dumped in the Thames, and Bardolph brings him sack to warm him up. Mistress Quickly arrives with another message from Mistress Ford, saying her husband will be out and she wants Falstaff to visit again between eight and nine. Falstaff agrees at once. Ford then appears in disguise as Master Brook, and Falstaff describes in detail how Ford was tricked, hidden in a buck-basket, carried out with the dirty laundry, and thrown into the river. Ford pretends sympathy, then leaves angry, determined to search every possible hiding place for Falstaff at his own house.
