The Taming of the Shrew — Act 3, Scene 2: Padua. Before BAPTISTA'S house.

On the wedding day outside Baptista’s house, Baptista worries that Petruchio has not arrived for the ceremony, and Katharina laments being forced to marry a man she thinks is mad. Tranio tries to reassure her, but she leaves in tears with Bianca. Biondello then reports Petruchio is approaching in absurd, worn-out clothes and on a miserable horse. Petruchio arrives, ignores complaints about his appearance, and insists on marrying Kate as he is. After Baptista and the others go to fetch him into church, Tranio and Lucentio continue their scheme to win Bianca. Gremio returns and describes Petruchio’s wild behavior at the wedding before the newly married pair reappear.
