The Taming of the Shrew — Act 4, Scene 1: PETRUCHIO'S country house.

At Petruchio’s country house, Grumio arrives first, exhausted and frozen, and tells Curtis to prepare a fire because Petruchio and Katharina are coming after a hard journey. He describes their miserable ride and the chaos of the trip. The servants are assembled to greet their master and his new wife, but Petruchio arrives angry that no one is ready to receive him. He demands supper, rejects the food as burnt, and throws the dishes about while ordering Katharina to sit patiently. He refuses to let them eat, takes her to the bridal chamber, and later explains to the servants that he plans to tame her by keeping her hungry, sleepless, and unsettled.
