The Third part of King Henry the Sixth — Act 3, Scene 1: A forest in the north of England.

In a forest in the north of England, two keepers prepare to hunt deer and wait in hiding with their crossbows. King Henry enters alone, disguised and carrying a prayerbook, and laments that he has been driven from the throne and can no longer help anyone, not even himself. He thinks of Queen Margaret and Prince Edward going to France for aid, while Warwick has gone to win the French king’s sister for Edward. The keepers hear him speak like a king and decide he is the deposed Henry, so they seize him. Henry argues that they once swore allegiance to him, but they insist on taking him to the officers, and he yields peacefully.
