The Third part of King Henry the Sixth — Act 4, Scene 1: London. The palace.

At the palace, Edward’s brothers Clarence, Gloucester, Somerset, and Montague question his marriage to Lady Grey, with Clarence and Montague criticizing it as politically foolish. Edward defends his choice and asks the nobles to speak openly. Queen Elizabeth pleads for respect, but the argument continues until a post arrives with news from France: King Lewis is angry, Lady Bona is offended, and Margaret and Warwick are now joined against Edward. Clarence, bitter over the marriage and the loss of influence, leaves to seek Warwick’s daughter, and Somerset follows him. Edward sends Pembroke and Stafford to raise troops, tests Hastings and Montague for loyalty, and prepares for war.
