Timon of Athens — Act 4, Scene 2: Athens. A room in Timon's house.

Flavius meets several of Timon’s servants, who ask where their master is and whether they are ruined. He confirms that he is as poor as they are, and all of them lament that Timon has been abandoned by the friends who once crowded his house. More servants arrive, and they all mourn the collapse of Timon’s household and their own uncertain future. Flavius gives them his last money so they can part as fellow sufferers, then reflects on how wealth brings misery and false friendship. He blames Timon’s downfall on generosity and resolves to find him and continue serving him while he still can.
