Titus Andronicus — Act 2, Scene 1: Rome. Before the Palace.

Aaron opens the scene exulting that Tamora has risen to power and is now safe and honored at court, and he decides to serve her in rich clothing while also using his position for his own pleasure. Demetrius and Chiron then enter and immediately begin arguing over their rivalry for Lavinia’s love, drawing their swords in open defiance near the emperor’s palace. Aaron intervenes, warns them that their quarrel is dangerous and must remain secret, and then turns the dispute toward a planned attack. He tells them to seize Lavinia during the upcoming hunt in the woods, where they can act without witnesses. The two brothers accept his advice and leave with him.
