Troilus and Cressida — Act 5, Scene 3: Troy. Before Priam's palace.

At Troy’s palace, Andromache and Cassandra beg Hector not to go out to fight, warning him from dreams and visions that the day will bring bloodshed. Hector refuses to break his sworn duty and insists that honour requires him to keep his promise to meet the Greeks. Troilus joins the argument and urges Hector to be fiercer in war, condemning his brother’s mercy toward captured enemies. Priam and Cassandra try again to hold Hector back, but he leaves with Priam’s blessing. As the battle begins offstage, Troilus vows to face Diomedes. Pandarus then brings him a letter from Cressida, but Troilus angrily tears it up, convinced her words and actions do not match.
