Twelfth Night — Act 1, Scene 2: The sea-coast.

Washed ashore in Illyria after the shipwreck, Viola asks the Captain what country she has reached and mourns her brother, Sebastian, while the Captain cautiously suggests there is still hope that he survived. He tells her he saw Sebastian clinging to a mast and alive in the sea, which gives Viola some comfort. Viola then learns that the ruler here is Duke Orsino, who is seeking the love of Olivia, a noblewoman in mourning who refuses all suitors. Hearing this, Viola decides to hide her identity, serve Orsino, and have the Captain present her as a eunuch, since she can sing and speak well.
