Twelfth Night — Act 1, Scene 3: OLIVIA'S house.

In Olivia’s house, Sir Toby Belch complains about Olivia’s mourning for her brother and is told by Maria that his late-night drinking and disorder annoy her. The two banter about Sir Andrew Aguecheek, whom Sir Toby has brought as a possible suitor for Olivia. Maria mocks Sir Andrew as foolish and wasteful, while Sir Toby praises him for his money, manners, and talents. Sir Andrew enters, awkwardly greets Maria, and misunderstands Sir Toby’s instruction to “accost” her. Maria teases him, then leaves. Sir Toby and Sir Andrew joke about his lack of wit, his wish to leave, and his useless education, before Sir Toby urges him to stay and join in revels and dancing.
