The Winter's Tale — Act 1, Scene 2: A room of state in the same.

In Leontes’ state room, Polixenes prepares to leave Sicilia, but Hermione persuades him to stay a little longer, speaking playfully and warmly while Leontes watches. Leontes grows increasingly uneasy as he sees Hermione’s ease with Polixenes and their shared memories of childhood. After Hermione succeeds in making Polixenes remain, Leontes sends her away with him and continues to brood, interpreting their behavior as proof of guilt. He then questions Camillo about Polixenes’ stay and directly accuses him of disloyalty. Leontes orders Camillo to poison Polixenes, and Camillo, horrified, decides instead to warn Polixenes and help him escape.
