Much Ado About Nothing — Act 2, Scene 1: A hall in LEONATO'S house.

At Leonato’s house, Leonato, Antonio, Hero, and Beatrice prepare for the masked revels and trade jokes about Don John’s gloomy manner and Beatrice’s sharp tongue. When the masked guests enter, Don Pedro woos Hero on Claudio’s behalf, while others dance and flirt. Don John and Borachio trick Claudio into believing Don Pedro is pursuing Hero for himself, which leaves Claudio distressed. Benedick returns and learns from Don Pedro that Beatrice has been mocking him, leading to another round of insulted banter. After the company reunites, Don Pedro confirms that Claudio has won Hero, and then tells Leonato, Claudio, and Hero that he plans to bring Benedick and Beatrice together.
