Much Ado About Nothing — Act 5, Scene 1: Before LEONATO'S house.

Outside Leonato’s house, Antonio urges Leonato not to wear himself out with grief, but Leonato refuses comfort and declares that Claudio and Don Pedro must be answered for Hero’s death. When Claudio and Don Pedro arrive, Leonato accuses Claudio directly of dishonouring and killing his daughter, and Antonio joins in with fierce insults and threats. The two lords try to move past the quarrel, but Leonato and Antonio storm off. Benedick then arrives, and the conversation turns sharply as he privately challenges Claudio to make good on his role in Hero’s death. Before Benedick can leave, Dogberry brings in Borachio and Conrade, and Borachio confesses the deception. Leonato returns with the Sexton and hears the full truth.
