Pericles, Prince of Tyre — Act 1, Scene 2: Tyre. A room in the palace.

Back in Tyre, Pericles is alone and troubled by what he discovered at Antioch. He reflects that fear from the king has not left him, but has grown stronger because Antiochus may attack Tyre or punish innocent people to protect his secret. Helicanus and the other lords enter and offer cheerful greetings, but Helicanus refuses flattery and urges honest counsel. Pericles admits what he has learned about Antiochus and explains why he fled. Helicanus advises him to leave Tyre for a time until the danger passes. Pericles agrees to travel to Tarsus and places the government of Tyre in Helicanus’s care.
