The Life and Death of Julius Caesar — Act 4, Scene 2: Camp near Sardis. Before BRUTUS's tent.

Brutus arrives in Sardis with Lucilius, Lucius, and soldiers, and asks whether Cassius is near. Lucilius reports that Cassius has come with his army, but Brutus notices that Cassius has become less open and friendly than before. He tells Lucilius that this is how love begins to fail, when people act formally instead of warmly. Cassius then enters with his forces and immediately greets Brutus with anger, saying Brutus has wronged him. Brutus refuses to argue before both armies and insists they send the soldiers away. He and Cassius agree to speak privately in Brutus’s tent, while Lucius and Titinius are ordered to guard the entrance.
