The Tragedy of Coriolanus — Act 1, Scene 9: The Roman camp.

After the retreat sounds, Cominius enters with the Romans and greets Marcius, who has his arm in a scarf from the fighting. He praises Marcius’s bravery and says Rome will have to honor it publicly. Titus Lartius arrives from the pursuit, and Cominius urges Marcius not to refuse recognition. Marcius resists praise and rejects the share of spoils and horses offered to him, saying he did not fight for payment. The soldiers cheer and formally name him Caius Marcius Coriolanus. He agrees only to wash his face, then asks Cominius to free a poor man who once sheltered him in Corioli. Cominius grants the request, and they leave for the tent.
